The flowers
Remember those flowers I said I got for Mother's Day? Well, this morning as we are walking out the door the boys remembered that today is teacher appreciation day and they didn't have anything for their teachers. They were really upset about it... wanna guess where the flowers went?

Mother's Day
I wake up and am greeted by Andrew who says: Mom, you should make a nice breakfast today for Mother's Day. I'd like some waffles and bacon...
But no worries - I got flowers.

More about girls
This morning Max arrived in my room fully dressed (quite nicely) and announced: I am going to give my ring to Noel! Give her your ring? You mean that big skull ring you found in the parking lot? Yes, he said, do you think that's a good idea? Well, I asked, if you give it to her, would you expect to get it back? Hmmmm, he was thinking and then disappeared with no answer. As we were walking out the door I asked him if he had the ring. No, he said, I decided against that!
Brownies anyone?
Max came home from school and said: Mom, will you make me some brownies? Sure, I said, what for? Well, first I want one and then I want to take some to Noel. Who's Noel?, I asked. She's a girl in my class and there's only 2 more days of turkey hunting season so she missed school and needed help with her math. Uh, ok I'm thinking. And what does that have to do with the brownies? I was helping her with her math and she listened to me so I want to show her my "gratitude." Let's try that again... you were helping her with her math or she was helping you? I was helping her, he said. Okay, so you want to show your gratitude because...? Because she listened to me! Still confused I ask: do you like Noel? His head bows low and cheeks get flushed... yes, he said. So, yes, I helped my son get the girl and made the brownies.
