Okay, so crazy enough, but Max didn't react to his doctor appointment at all. So now I am wondering if I should be worried that he didn't mind someone checking his you know whats! Yikes!

Today Max has his 7 year check up. I am trying to think of how I might best prepare him. When Andrew went to his check up last year, the pediatrician (a woman) had to check to make sure that his "you know whats" were hanging in the right spot. Drew, horrified of course, told her "trust me they are!" I am holding my breath waiting to hear what Max's response will be! Any suggestions from all of you mothers out there?

Max and Math

Okay, so Max did come home (see post below) from school yesterday. He came home with a math page he did in class. There were 20 addition problems and he had 2 minutes to complete them (yes, they are timed, but I'll leave that for another day.) Apparently the directions were that he was to do as many as he could in the 2 minute period, in pencil. Those he didn't finish in the time allowed he would write in crayon.

I was suprised when I saw that Max had only completed 10 of the 20 problems in pencil. I quizzed him myself and saw that he did them in less than a minute... so why the poor grade? I asked him and he said that he did half of them and then waited because he really wanted to use the red crayons!

Likewise, he had another math problem that said something like: there were 7 flies in the room, 2 flew out the window, how many flies are left in the room? Draw a picture and write a number sentence... After about 10 minutes of working on the problem, I checked on him and he was still working on drawing the first fly! I am starting to figure out that he is a "creative" learner - so busy drawing an anatomically correct fly that he misses the point all together!

He's nothing like his mother! ha!

Today Max left his homework on the dining room table. I took it up to the school to drop off to him. He saw me, took the papers and said "Oh, mom, thank you so much. I'll keep in touch."

I'll keep in touch? Does that mean he's not coming home from school today? ha!

What now?

So the boys are off to school and I am left holding my towel and cooler wondering where the summer went and when I get my vacation?
