Are you smarter than a 3rd grader?
We just got back from Washington, D.C. with the boys and I am amazed at how much they really do learn in school (and how much we forget)!While walking around on our first evening in the city, we came upon a statue from behind. I looked up at it and said: I wonder who that is? Max quickly announces that it is Ben Franklin. How do you know it is Ben Franklin? I ask.
Max replies: I recognize him by his hair! |-{
While walking up the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, I hear Max telling a grandparent about how these are the steps where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech. You know, he continues, the one that says: I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character...? That speech. :-o
And finally as we were walking into the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum I mentioned that we would see the very first airplanes ever made – you know, the ones that Louis and Clark built? To which Max replies: Uh mom, Louis and Clark rode in a canoe, not in a plane.Right. I knew that. The Wright Brothers. Of course. <:-|
